Anson expands Green River lithium project with claim pegging

ASX-listed Anson Resources has expanded its footprint at the Green River lithium project in Utah, US, pegging an additional 100 strategic lode claims that increase the project's total area by 8.23 km² to 88.61 km².

The newly acquired claims form a contiguous block with the state of Utah OBA lease, approved in September 2024, and are expected to be incorporated in future resource estimates. About 28% of the new ground can be immediately included in the next mineral resource upgrade.

Anson pointed out that the new area contains two historical oil and gas wells that intercepted supersaturated brines, including the Grand Fault Unit 14-24 well, where brines flowed to surface from depths of nearly 9 705 feet in the Mississippian Units – indicating high-pressure reservoir conditions.

While there are no historical lithium assays from the Grand Fault well, its proximity – less than 5 km – to the lithium-bearing Boysdaba #1 well, drilled by Anson in 2024, positions it as a key re-entry target to grow the project’s mineral resource.

The Green River region hosts multiple large-scale geological structures, including the Ten Mile Graben, Little Grand Wash Fault, and the north-south striking Green River Anticline. These features contribute to favourable extraction conditions, such as high porosity and permeability, necessary for sustainable lithium brine production.
